To the Planning and Zoning Commission:
I am writing to express my strong opposition to the proposed apartment complex at the corner of Ten Mile and
Franklin. This development would have a detrimental impact on our community in several ways:
Traffic Congestion: Traffic on Ten Mile is already a nightmare, and adding hundreds of new residents would only
exacerbate the problem. The current infrastructure cannot handle the increased traffic flow, leading to longer
commutes, safety hazards, and frustration for all motorists.
School Overcrowding: Chaparral Elementary School is already struggling with overcrowding. An influx of
children from the proposed apartments would further strain resources and limit the quality of education each
student receives.
Strained Infrastructure: Our community's infrastructure, including roads, utilities, and emergency services, is
barely keeping pace with the current growth. Adding a high-density development would overburden these
systems and lead to service disruptions.
Zoning Concerns: The current zoning for this area is not intended for high-density housing. Granting an
exception for this project would set a dangerous precedent and undermine the integrity of our zoning
regulations. We have already seen a concerning number of exceptions granted on Ten Mile, and this trend
needs to stop.
I urge you to reject the proposal for this apartment complex. The negative consequences for our community far
outweigh any potential benefits. Let's focus on responsible development that prioritizes existing residents and protects
the character of our neighborhood.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Grant Gallentine
