As a concerned citizen and retired, I often find myself with the opportunity to fact check claims and documents against the truth. Something interesting came up when I found some news articles from recently where a young man was trying to create a new fun spot in the Valley. Why is it that we require a business like The Oasis trying to do things an honest way by the book to go through hell and back to get a conditional use permit, only to approve it and then deny it later? But a place like Maddie’s files all of their permits at Meridian City as a “restaurant” to pass through without a conditional use permit or any further scrutiny, and then all of the liquor licenses are filed blatantly false as “not a restaurant” because their signage and business stating “wine and whiskey” is clearly a bar and not a restaurant? Knowing full well that in order to qualify as a restaurant at the Idaho State Police, you must hold yourself out to the public as a restaurant, and not a bar. How can a location be both a restaurant and not a restaurant at the same time? At all the paperwork at Meridian City, it says "YES" as a restaurant, and at all of the paperwork filed with the State Police, it says "NO" not a restaurant. It’s almost as if during an election year the City of Meridian will allow whatever paperwork to be filed as long as it meets their agenda, even if the false documents promote Shady and dishonest business practices at best. -Key In Silence 1
