AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 2, CHAPTER I, BUILDING CODE~ OF THE
REVISED AND COMPILED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF MERIDIAN, ADA
COUNTY, IDAHO, BY THE REPEAL OF SECTION 2-101, ADOPTION OF UNIFORM
BUILDING CODE AND THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE BOOK OF STANDARDS AND
BY RE-ENACTING THE SAME WITH ALL APPENDIX I; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council and the Mayor of the City of
Meridian, Idaho, have concluded that it is in the best interest
of the City to update the Building Code to 1991 standards by the
adoption of the Uniform Building Code, 1991 Edition, with all
Appendix' and the Book of Standards, which changes shall be
effective upon approval hereof.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF
MERIDIAN, AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MERIDIAN, ADA
COUNTY, IDAHO.
SECTION I;
That Section 2-101, ADOPTION OF THE UNIFORM
BUILDING CODE AND THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE BOOK OF STANDARDS, of
the Revised and Compiled Ordinances of the City of Meridian is
hereby repealed.
SECTION 2:
That Section 2-101, ADOPTION OF THE UNIFORM
BUILDING CODE AND THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE BOOK OF STANDARDS, is
hereby re-enacted and shall read as follows:
2-101: ADOPTION OF THE UNIFORM CODE AND THE UNIFORM BUILDING
CODE BOOK OF STANDARDS: There is hereby adopted by the City for
the purposes of establishing rules and regulations for the
construction, alteration, removal, demolition, equipment, use and
occupancy, location and maintenance of buildings and structures,
including permits and penalties, that certain building code known
as the Uniform Building Code, 1991 Edition, with all Appendix',

of which not less than three (3) copies have been and nOVJ are
filed in the office of the City Clerk, and the same are hereby
adopted and incorporated as fully as if set out at length herein,
and from the date on which this Section shall take effect, the
provisions thereof shall be controlling over the construction of
all buildings and other structures contained the corporate limits
of the City. There is also hereby adopted the Uniform Building
Code Book of Standards, three (3) copies of which have been and
now are filed in the office of the City Clerk; provided, however,
that the following exceptions shall apply to the Uniform Building
Code Book of Standards:
Regardless of the provisions of the Uniform Building Code or
the Uniform Building Code Book of Standards, the City shall not
allow gravel to be used for foundations in the construction of any
building within the City, and regardless of any of the provisions
of the Uniform Building Code, particularly footings, Section
2907(a) General, or of the Uniform Building Code Book of
Standards, the City shall not allow wood, treated or otherwise,
to be used for footings or foundations.
SECTION 3:
EFFECTIVE DATE:
This Ordinance shall take
effect and be in force and effect from and after its passage,
approval and publication as required by law.
PASSED by the City Council and Approved by the Mayor of the
City of Meridian, Ada County, Idaho, this~~~day of September,

ORDINANCE NO. 554
AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED THE ANNUAL APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE FOR
FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING OCTOBER 1, 1991, APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF
$5,377.230.00 TO DEFRAY THE EXPENSE AND LIABILITIES OF THE CITY
OF MERIDIAN FOR SAID FISCAL YEAR, AUTHORIZING A LEVY OF A
SUFFICIENT TAX UPON THE TAXABLE PROPERTY AND SPECIFYING THE
OBJECTS AND PURPOSES FOR WHICH APPROPRIATION IS MADE:
BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and City Council of the City of
Meridian, Ada County, Idaho:
Section 1: That the sum of $5. 377, 230. 00 be, and the same
is appropriated to defray the necessary expenses and liabilities
of the City of Meridian, Ada County, Idaho for the fiscal year
beginning October 1, 1990:
Section 2: The objects and purposes for which such
appropriation is made, and the amount of each object and purpose
is as follows:

Section 3: That a general tax levy on all taxable property
within the City of Meridian be levied in an amount allowed by law
for the general purposes for said City, for the
beginning October 1, 1991: fiscal year
Section 4: All Ordinances and parts of Ordinances in
conflict with this Ordinance are hereby repealed:
Section 5: This Ordinance shall take effect and be in full
force upon its passage, approval and publication in one issue of
the Valley News a
circulation in tws,Cit newspaper of general publication and
of said City: y of Meridian, and the official newspaper
Passed under the suspension of rules, upon which a roll call
vote was taken and duly enacted in Ordinance of the City of
Meridian, Ada County, Idaho at a convened meeting of the Cit of
Meridian City Council held on the 20th day of August, 1991: y
