Dear members of the planning and zoning committee my name is Craig Smith and I am
currently building a home on 7191 South Eagle Rd in Meridian. I would like to voice my strong
opposition to the rezoning of the Reaville Ridge subdivision (60 acres bordering the west of
my property.) Others and I have paid a premium to be outside of the medium to high
density areas. I bought this property specifically for the fact that it was low density and have
invested a significant amount of my life savings into it as the forever home for myself and our
five children. Developments such as this are the exact opposite of why people have been
attracted to Idaho in the first place. It seems like nothing more than a money grab to
increase profits as much as possible for the builder all while destroying the natural appeal of
rural Idaho. The area is already lacking the necessary infrastructure and this will only further
the pressure. My proposal would be that the 60 acres remain low density to preserve its
natural beauty and the open spaces people so desire in this area. Also any of the lots
bordering larger parcels with existing homes such as those to the east and north should be
required to be larger acre lots that should be sold to allow for custom homes rather than CBH
tract homes. Thank you for taking time to consider my concerns.
