To whom it may concern, I received notice of a subdivision planning meeting for this upcoming Thursday. I currently reside in The Keep, which is adjacent to that proposed subdivision. When we started our build in this location, we were told first that that land would remain as is, but “if” a subdivision was ever going to go into the area proposed, that it would be a low density subdivision. However, it appears that Cory Barton is asking for that to be changed. I have concerns for a medium and high density subdivision. Not only does this proposal put greater stress on our roads and schools, but it also begs the question of the environment. When I was a child, my dad had a piece of property that was his own—he wanted to build a reservoir, which would provide irrigation for our farm and a place for wildlife. To his surprise, it was declined because of the existing pond and wildlife. This was a surprise to us all as he was planning on adding additional opportunities for wildlife. City council members—have you seen the proposed area? There is a pond, mature tree, beautiful walkways. It is an oasis from the city. When my son was young and in scouts, his troop would camp in this very place and canoe in the pond. I can’t believe that this gem is being replaced by a subdivision. I have no doubt that if an environmental lawyer were to step onto the property, they would agree with this assessment. And would wager they would make the same assessment that was made of my father’s property so many years ago. Perhaps, we are past some of this discussion, but if so, I would hope we could maintain some is the integrity of the property. Allowing for a subdivision but keeping the finer points of property as is. A high density subdivision will not do that. It would destroy the gem that is right here in our city. Please take note that I disagree with the proposal. I also disagree that Cory Barton should be able to propose changes to what was already outlined, and that he thinks he can obtain that proposal simply due to financing. Sometimes there are more important things than money. … and making memories on a pond in nature is one of the things. 1 Thank you, Carrie Miller Sent from my iPhone 2
