HomeMy WebLinkAboutPathways Recommendation Letter To Whom it may concern,
I am a Mom who has always homeschooled my children. In 2021 my husband died of Covid and
everything changed for us. I stayed home for a year and then had to get a full-time job. My 15-year-old
daughter needed a place to go to school, working on her own at home just wasn't working and honestly,
she was struggling with anxiety and depression more than ever missing her Dad. She decided to try high
school. After being there for 15 minutes on her first day, she texted me to come and get her, it was too
much and she was having a panic attack. What to do?
Then we found Pathways. She only had to go 2 times per week for 2 hours each time. Totally doable
and the environment is peaceful and safe. ALL of the staff has welcomed her with open arms. She talks
about many of them often. She tells me all the time that she is so glad we found Pathways. She is doing
well with her work, she is better with her anxiety and depression and even went on 2 pathways trips this
year. That mean being away from Mom, without her cell phone, which is huge. She felt safe enough
with these adults to trust them and be away from me, which hasn't happened since her Dad passed.
She has grown so much in so many ways because of Pathways. I am forever in debt to them for saving
this girl who had no direction, no drive, no self-worth, and thought she was dumb. She is blossoming
into a girl that knows what she wants, has goals, trusts these adults and her peers, she feels like she is
smart and CAN learn, and she knows she is worth the time and effort. This is directly related to
Pathways and the staff. They have built her up, not just in education, but all around. Pathways really is
a place unlike any other. So many opportunities to learn, serve, and grow through many different
learning styles and experiences. I will be forever grateful to Pathways and what all of these amazing
people have done for my daughter.
I would definitely recommend Pathways to anyone with a child that is struggling in traditional high
school. The support, environment and commitment of the staff to the success of their students, is
unparalleled anywhere else. I would recommend Pathways to all students, even those that are doing
great in high school, there are opportunities at Pathways like no others, like monthly field trips,
incentives to keep up with work, the opportunity to travel (for free), and to really take responsibility for
themselves and their education. It is a place where kids learn responsibility, accountability, and the I
CAN attitude. It is a place where magic happens. I am so grateful for Pathways and all of it's staff in our
lives.
Sincerely,
Cassandra Gonzalez
A very grateful parent
