HomeMy WebLinkAboutPZ - Narrative Dear Council, We are writing to request an amendment to our occupancy agreement for the new church building currently under construction at the corner of Cherry Lane and Black Cat Road. As per the original agreement, we were required to remove all existing structures from the property prior to the issuance of the certificate of occupancy. However, we are respectfully requesting permission to retain one of the existing structures, a mobile home, for an additional two years beyond the occupancy date. This mobile home currently serves as a vital food pantry, providing much-needed sustenance to over 100 families residing in Meridian. It has become an indispensable resource for our community, offering a lifeline to those facing food insecurity. The decision to request this extension was not taken lightly. We understand the importance of adhering to the original agreement and are committed to ensuring a smooth transition to the new church building. However, we believe that retaining the mobile home for two additional years would allow us to continue providing uninterrupted support to the families who rely on it while simultaneously making arrangements for its future. During this extension period, we will diligently pursue fundraising efforts to establish a permanent location for the food pantry, whether it be constructing a dedicated facility or identifying a suitable new home. We are confident that with the continued support of our community and the city of Meridian, we will find a solution that ensures the long-term sustainability of this essential service. The mobile home food pantry represents more than just a physical structure; it embodies the church's unwavering commitment to serving those in need. By granting us this extension, you would enable us to continue fulfilling our mission of providing a beacon of hope to the families we serve. We sincerely hope that you will consider our request favorably.
