August 10, 1965
In accordance with instructions of the Meridian City Council, and at
the request of Mr. Norman Fuller, I have prepared estimated costs for completing
street construction for the portions of street adjacent to and through the East
Side Park Subdivision in Meridian.
The following cost items include an allowance of 30 per cent for
contingencies, which would be required if it is necessary for the City of
Meridian to exercise the bond requirements to have the work performed.
Item No. 1. Pit run gravel to within 4 inches of finished
grade, including watering and rolling,
estimated project cost of $950.00.
Item No. 2. Two --inch course of crushed gravel surface,
3/4 -inch max., including watering and
rolling, estimated project cost of $1100.00.
Item No. 3. Prime coat and 2 -inch plant mix asphaltic
surfacing, estimated project cost of $5900.00.
In regard to Mr. Fuller's request for a reduction of bond on paving
for road mix versus plant mix, we have no fixed basis to make such a reduction.
On two projects of ours where the contractor had an option of plant mix or
road mix with seal coat, the contractor's choice was the plant mix. Therefore,
any reduction in bond is questionable. In discussing this with Mayor Storey,
it was agreed that 25 per cent would be more than fair.
Therefore, the bond amounts for street construction are:

1. Pit run gravel W----------------- $ 950.00
2. Crushed gravel surfacing -------- 1100.00
3. Plant mix paving ($5900 x 0.75) - 4425:00
Total Street Bond ------------ $6475:00
It has been reported to us by the sewer lift station contractor that
the sewer lines in the subdivision have excessive infiltration. This needs
bond consideration before accepting same.
Furthermore, there may be other items in the subdivision that, based
on.fieid inspection., may need to be bonded.
Sincerely yours,
