I appreciate you sharing your feedback. I am aware that there was a quorum in attendance for the meeting, however there was a conflict for one commissioner on the agenda item who then had to recuse themselves, which is why there were three for this item. While attendance issues can and do happen, we will be discussing commission attendance and engagement with our planning commission team. In case you are not aware, as this project moves forward in the application process, it will be in front of the City Council at a future hearing date, which will continue the public hearing and public participation process. I do want to clarify for you that this project is part of an open application, and the Mayor and City Council members are prohibited from commenting outside of the public hearing, which is why you are not getting a response directly from them. We take public feedback seriously and want you to know that we have received your email and have read your comments. We have also copied the City Clerk’s office who will ensure that your feedback and comments are included in the public record. As projects move forward, the City’s website, meridiancity.org, will continue to have updates for upcoming public hearing notices and additional information regarding the development. I have also copied our staff liaison to the Planning and Zoning Commission so they are aware of your concern. Thank you again for contacting us with your concerns. This is a critical decision point for the city. Yet, there were only 3 voting members of the commission available to discuss this topic. As a member of this community, I am very disappointed that the full commission was not available to weigh in on such a critical decision and I find it incredibly irresponsible that the motion was even considered with such a low turnout. I was also very disappointed in the overall attituded of apathy in the decision making process. Most members recognized the significant challenges of the area. Yet, the comments seemed to reflect that they approved simply because there was not a better alternative. Please allow the record to reflect in the city council public hearing that there was an overall lack of participation when this motion was considered. 2
