To the City Council, Meridian
I am writing in support of the Pearl House/4th Street Books. In my time in the greater Meridian area, I have witnessed
too many book stores fail, mostly in the face of high rent. The authors of this enterprise are asking support for the
noblest of causes, expanding the human mind during these times of darkness. I cannot imagine any good reason not to
approve this request. The applicants intend to share the love of books and to open their space to visitors, who may
even share a libation during a social event. How much different is that than a home-owner who has a small
gathering? Throughout the history of modern times, mutual support has depended on the sociality that develops from
diverse minds, interacting. Please help these brave souls.
