Hi Jessica, Thanks for your reply. I recognize that the ITD, ACHD, and West Ada School District may have an opinion on this, but they don't represent the people living in these neighborhoods. We do not want to see the volume on Chinden become as bad as Eagle/55. Moreover, a 5 story, high density building is not what was originally proposed and approved, and it is certainly not what residents in the area want to see. There is nothing with that many stories in this area, and that level of density will compound the traffic and congestion that is going to grow from all of the businesses that will already be opening in Orchard Park. One or two story townhomes would be more than enough additional traffic. There is already high density housing at Chinden and 10 Mile and Chinden and Black Cat. People are getting really upset about the runaway development that seems to be going on in Meridian. We've seen this in other places we have lived and it only ends up lowering the property values and the desirability for living in the area, not to mention creating a lot of conflict between the community and the city council. I hope this helps. Regards, Serena Gallenstein On Tue, Jun 20, 2023 at 11:19 AM Jessica Perreault <jperreault@meridiancity.org> wrote: Good morning Serena, Thank you for your feedback. City Council is not permitted to discuss open applications. However, I would be interested in hearing more specifics about the issues that you believe are being execerbated in this area of the City, keeping in mind that all applications are received by ITD, ACHD, and West Ada School District for comment. The City doesn't have control over roads, intersections, traffic congestion, nor in the planning for current or new schools. We are aware that traffic has increased, but we rely on the greater knowledge of ACHD and ITD about how much a road, intersection, or area of the city can handle. We have said no to many applications because of traffic issues, but it typically involved a very specific concern that ACHD acknowledged could be an issue, but wouldn't be able to address in the short term. 1 What specific issues do you believe are being created by adding additional housing units to this area? Safety concerns? Hello Jessica, I am writing to you as a homeowner in Meridian to implore you not to approve the conditional use permit for Linder Village which would allow the developer to build a 500+ unit multi-story, high-density apartment building on Chinden Boulevard near Paramount. The pace of high density building in Meridian, particularly on high traffic thoroughfares like Chinden Boulevard is unsustainable and citizens throughout the city are becoming increasingly upset about the pace of growth the City Council has approved. Please do not allow the developer of the next phase of Orchard Park to proceed with this sort of development. It will only greatly exacerbate the issues posed by the significant increase in commercial development in the same area. Homeowners throughout the city will be watching how the City Council votes on this with great interest.
