Most metropolitan areas reflect developments that encompass no density transitions---<:ity boundaries blend together into one homogenous urban center. Meridian has the opportunity to prevent this from happening and maintain its unique and separate identity apart from Boise; however, once its rural lands are re.developed, the opportunity is lost for generations, if not forever. <! .-[ endit]--> 3. Lower density development at R.2 zoning is consistent with the example set by the work that Vision First and the surrounding residents achieved in the Kingsbridge Subdivision. Development consistent with this example at the periphery of the Area of Impact is in the City's best interest by offering a variety of housing choices and transitional density from urban to rural, consistent with currendy existing land use in our neighborhood. We worked hard to achieve these good results and had hoped that it would serve as a model for future development in this section. 4. <!--[if !supportLineBreakNewLine]->Ruralland east of Eagle Road and south of Victory Road should be developed at the lowest possible density, and we support a change in the Comprehensive Plan to accomplish these objectives. <!-[endit]-> 5. We are all feeling the stress and strain of over. burdened rural roads and severely congested traffic patterns at peak hours. Insisting on lower density in our area will help reduce the impact of more residents into an already strained infrastructure. Until ACHD somehow manages to catch up with the recent and ongoing growth, transportation issues will only get worse. The same point can be made with respect to the School District. 7/17/2006 Page 2 of2 Please deny these applications scheduled for hearing on July 18th. Thank you for your consideration.
