As per your request, this engineer visited the referenced project on April 21, April 27, and
May 2, 2017 to assist with percolation testing of the planned infiltration trenches.
During the first visit it was learned that the excavation for the southern bed had been extended
by the contractor to deeper than the design depth in search of free draining materials. It was
recommended that a new test pit be excavated and tested at the design depth. It was also
learned that ACHD requested an additional test pit and perc test at the end of the previously
constructed northern bed. Excavation was completed prior to the second visit. Perc testing was
scheduled with ACHD present during the third site visit.
Filling with water began when SITE arrived. Measurement points were established and depths
to water and time recorded. All field measurements were witnessed by and shared with the
ACHD inspector. All recorded data is in the attached Perc Test Log. Calculated results were
1.2 in / hr in the south bed and 2.6 in/hr in the north bed. WH Pacific, the project civil engineer,
was contacted and indicated that they can modify the design and drain time to make these
result acceptable.
ACHD requested that this report is to be forwarded to the project plan reviewer with bed
modifications. We appreciate this opportunity to be of service. Should you have any questions
