Mr. Clark,
Thank you for notifying me of your desire and your remarks regarding process and Mr. Johnson. As this application is still
subject to additional action, I will ask that your correspondence and this response be included in the hearing record.
Further, I will ask Mr. Nary to provide any perspective to your comments regarding the role, function, or action of
Planning and Zoning versus City Council.

Mayor Simison,
After participating in last night’s City Council meeting I would like to formally withdraw my application for the opening
on the Planning and Zoning Commission.
I was unaware that there was no real decision making ability for that group and that it was only a recommending body.
Since zoning classifications are the sole determining factor in project approval I’m not sure what the function of the
group actually serves.
Thanks for your time and consideration.
William (Bill) R. Clark
P.S. I have one suggestion for future Council meetings. When the outcome is already determined prior to the meeting
like it was in the Bridgetower Multi-family project, the public should be notified that the only items up for discussion are
configuration not the actual project. It would save the public and the Council a great deal of time in preparation and
presentation. Rather than pointing out the many, significant flaws in the data I would have made a very different
presentation.
