From: David Gautschy Email: ocstingray@pm.me Phone: 7146547644 1 Question/Comment: Mayor and City Council City of Meridian, ID Subject: Developer’s Appeal to the City Council Proposed Apartment Development at the Northeast corner of W. McMillan and N. San Vito Way. Honorable Mayor and City Council Members I am deeply concerned regarding the proposed development of high-density multifamily apartment structures within and partially being surrounding by single-family homes. Development of high-density apartments between commercial and single-family homes is an outdated concept as with proper code requirements the single-family and light commercial propertied can co-exist quite well. The City of Meridian has a fiduciary responsibility to protect and enhance the standards of living within the City. This applies to protecting the individual rights of home owners within the residential community areas. This proposed large apartment complex surrounded by existing and future single-family homes as indicated on the City’s Planning documents is contrary to the City’s purpose of protecting the health and welfare of its citizens. I suggest that the City Council reject the developer’s appeal of the Planning Commission’s decision to stop the intrusive large apartment complex. In addition, I suggest the zoning of this property be amended to low density residential more in context with the low density residential. Should this appeal be approved by the City Council I would recommend that strict condition be applied to the project as follows: 1. All vehicle traffic from the proposed development to be prohibited from access to W. McMillan and N. San Vito Way and the only vehicle access be via Ten Mile Road. 2. Maximum building height be limited to two stories as is required by the abutting single-family residential areas. 3. Provide a minimum of 25% open space for recreational use that doesn’t include parking areas or streets. 4. Developer to widen W. McMillan to from Ten Mile Road to Black Cat as proposed by the Public Works Department at no cost to the City. Thank you for your consideration of my request and suggestions. Sincerely, David Gautschy Resident of BridgeTower West. Should we contact you?: Yes 2
