Meridian City Council Members, I am writing to express my disapproval of the apartments going in behind Walmart. I do not believe that this development is a positive thing for the area around Bridgetower West. As mentioned before, it will add a large amount of traffic on McMillan that is already such a busy street, that it is hard to get across. The development at Blackcat and McMillan called James Ranch is going to put a very large amount of traffic on McMillan itself. There are already two high density projects in the area. One near the COSTCO store on State Highway and another on Blackcat and Gondola. If this project is approved, Gondola, a street that goes through the middle of Bridgetower West, and right by Pleasent View Elementary will have a high density apartment project on both ends of it. We walk this street quite often and notice that the traffic through there travels in excess of the speed limit already. With both these projects in place it will make Gondola traffic excessive and dangerous next to Pleasent View elementary school. This project will also increase the student population of Pleasent View. Making it "Not to Pleasent" for the staff there. I have seen it before where portable modular units have to be brought in to handle increased student population. It's not a good thing. I believe that the Planning and Zoning committee realized all these issues and more when they denied the application of this project. I hope that all the City Council members will respect their decision when voting on this project. Afterall, they are the planners for our city. I think they made the right decision.
