This is to request that the Meridian City Council APPROVE the subject CUT CR 2022- 0006 application. The bottom line is that I believe the applicant’s proposal meets all of the criteria specified for the R-15 zone. Actually, I wonder whether the Council not only has a fairness but also a legal responsibility to approve the application. In addition, the backside of Walmart is unsightly, delivery operations are noisy, and the currently undeveloped acreage currently is a weedy fire hazard. This is Bill Callison. I have lived immediately to the West of the captioned development since 2016. My home and my daughter’s home both back up to N San Vito Way. My wife and I and my daughter and her family have endured noisy construction traffic for five years, but that goes with the territory when a home is built in an under-development location. Currently, a well-organized, vociferous contingent of residents further removed from the proposed development is opposed because it includes apartments. I’ve heard some complain that they should have been told before they purchased their home in the Bridgetower West subdivision. I understand, but my wife, daughter, and I did our ‘due diligence’ prior to selecting a builder and the lot where our home was built. We had more remote and higher real estate tax options, and options adjacent to a odiferous livestock operation. Also, we hoped it wouldn’t happen but we were informed that apartments were a possibility between the lot we selected and the existing Walmart store. Will there be increased traffic and school and public services impacts ? Yes, but increased traffic on N San Vito Way will most affect residents living, as I and my family do, in homes along N San Vito Way. Furthermore, other developments further West along Black Cat also have increased and will continue to increase traffic, especially on W McMillan Road. And, those other developments also will have similar school and public services impacts. Personally, I believe the Planning Commission over-reacted to the ‘noise’ and erred in denying the application. It’s unfair to establish rules and then do a ‘switcheroo’ if someone gets upset when they are applied. 1
