TO: Mayor of Meridian and City Council Members From: Mrs. Jody Clark 3670 West Balducci St. Meridian, ID 83646 I am writing in opposition to the Bridgetower Multi-family CR-2022-0006 to be heard November 15 at 6:00 p.m. for a number of reasons. I will focus on only two of those reasons since other community members have addressed many of the other topics that indicate why this application should be denied. 1. Our previous home in another area had an undeveloped subdivision behind our property. We left for a two- week vacation and when we returned, there was a multi-level building being constructed directly behind our home. When we moved to Bridgetower West, we were looking for a backyard where this would not happen again. Our home is located directly across the street on McMillan. Our backyard faces directly into the proposed development. We moved to our property April 2019. When we purchased our property there was a sign across McMillan on the proposed development site that stated the property was going to be developed into single family residences. That is part of the reason we purchased our property. We were never notified of a zoning change and based our purchase on the posted information. Now we are working to prevent a 3-story building from being built directly across the road from our living room window. Not what the posted sign said! 2. Much has been said about the negative impact that this development will have on the traffic in this highly congested section of McMillan and the tributary streets. It is worth noting that the Applicant’s engineering firm, Hales, arbitrarily altered the report of the Community Planning Association of Southwest Idaho (COMPASS). They lowered the west bound traffic assumptions by 15% based on faulty suppositions. See the 1 excerpt from their submission to ACHD below: I would offer that “major destinations” such as homes, townhomes, Owyhee High School, and an interchange connecting the area to I-80 are certainly major draws that do not justify such a reduction. There are more than 900 homes/townhomes being built to the west of this proposed development. The current westbound traffic already exceeds the eastbound traffic on McMillan during key traffic hours. Traffic reports used in the application are not accurate and do not represent the current situation. Based on the misrepresentation of this property, the erroneous traffic assumptions which were presented in order to gain acceptance for this project and the severe negative traffic impact such a densely populated development will create, I urge you to deny this application. Thank you for your consideration, Respectfully, Jody Clark 2
