Mr. Mayor and members of the city council,
We moved into the BridgeTower West subdivision in June of 2021. We moved from California to the
wonderful state of Idaho for numerous reasons the council has probably heard many times previously.
We feel the apartment complex proposed for the vacant land between our development and the Walmart
shopping center needs to be permanently rejected, or at least put on hold, until the problems brought to
the attention of the Planning Department during the September 1st meeting can be thoroughly
addressed and/or rectified:
The biggest problem we see is the access we have from N. San Vito Way onto McMillan
Road. Currently, the traffic on McMillan in the morning and late afternoon/evening makes turning
onto this road from our development a challenge. We feel adding additional traffic from the
proposed development will only make this situation worse. In addition, part of the BridgeTower
development is on the south side of McMillan Road. The elementary school and the pool are both
located on the north side of busy McMillan road which requires parents and their children to
cross this busy road without a signal or crosswalk.
Adding to this increased traffic problem are the other new developments already approved,
either built or in the construction phase, further west on McMillan. At the recent Planning
Department hearing we were told that ADA County is in charge of the roads and they do not plan
to improve McMillan for ten years. If that is true, then why is the city of Meridian allowing all
this new construction when the current infrastructure does not appear to be able to handle the
growth to date? What is it going to look like between now and ten years out?
Another issue we have is the increased student enrollment at the local elementary school, located
in BridgeTower West, both for the school capacity and the traffic delivering students to and
from school. At the Planning Department meeting this topic was brought up but it did not sound
like a fair and comprehensive impact study was done by whomever is responsible to complete such
investigations.

One more concern - is the Meridian Water Company prepared to deliver water to ALL of these
new developments with the same standard and quality we have come to expect?
Expansion and growth are inevitable, and we are part of it, but reasonable and well planned growth
should be the ONLY goal of the city of Meridian.
Sincerely,
Richard & Ann Dunn
