Hello, This email is to inform the Meridian City Zoning and Planning Commision that I oppose the project that is proposed to be built on the 16 acres of R-15 zoned property behind my home located at 3554 W. Balducci St, Meridian, ID 83646. I understand that this property has been zoned for such a development. However, when we purchased our home, we were told there was a Retirement Community to be built on that land. This property has since been sold, and Alpha Development has proposed to build multi-family homes with a large apartment building as part of the development. The following is my statement for opposition. 1. I do not think it is ethical for a developer (that is not a local Idaho company) or the City of Meridian to be allowed to "maximize" profits at the expense of the existing homeowners and residents. This multi-family development will certainly have a negative impact on the value of the homes in the area. 2. As you are aware, the Commision denied the developer's request because they failed to decrease the density of their plan in order to maintain maximum profits. They still have not done this. 3. I can drive one mile from my home, in three directions and see no less than five developments in progress, three of them, are multi-family developments. Shouldn't the city also preserving the area, to maintain the openness of Meridian? 4. This area is already over developed, allowing this project to go forward without a significant decrease in density would be doing this community a disservice. 5. The increased traffic that this development would create will have a significant impact to the safety of the Bridgetower West residents and surrounding communities.
