Dear Planners,
I am writing to oppose the development of the apartments into Bridgetower West subdivision. In speaking with my
neighbors and reading the comments by so many of fellow homeowners in opposition, I am 100% in agreement with all
of the comments and very thoughtful observations regarding traffic, overcrowded schools, lack of ability to increase
road widths to provide needed flow and so many other concerns.
This project Is 100% wrong for this neighborhood and the only people who are truly for the project are out of state
developers with a financial motive and Mike McCullum (who has financial interest). Alpha employees do not live here,
and they don’t understand or care about the amazing community that is here. The planning of the subdivision itself is
optimal for the single-family homes that are here, and the environment created for families especially with children.
The sole purpose of putting in a large apartment complex abutting this subdivision is solely maximization of financial
profits or as Mr Holt puts it “to create an Urban feel”.
I have never met anyone in 24 years who moved to Idaho to get and “Urban feel”.
I would like to address one specific aspect of this proposal and that is safety. I have been a First Responder Chaplain for
7 years now with over 10,000 hours frontline with law enforcement and fire. I have been on hundreds of callouts to all
types of dwellings here in Idaho. The fact is calls for service are 6-10 times in apartments vs single family homes. The
responders have more drug, crime and violence calls which are compounded again 6-10 times in the high-density
housing. The idea of creating this environment right next to an elementary school and a large family-oriented
subdivision makes no sense.
This along with all the other concerns of my neighbors is a call for you to please deny this plan.
I understand that the land is zoned for R-15 and that something will go there, just not this please.
Thank you,
Bob Thomas
