To Whom IT May Concern,
I’m writing today to express my objection to the proposed multi family units adjacent to the
Bridgetower West subdivision. I moved to Bridgetower West to have something of a quiet life while still
being close to the conveniences of living in town. I’ve lived in Meridian for 17 years and this used to be a
lifestyle you could expect in most subdivisions. Not anymore. For some reason, city planners have been
shoving high density housing into every nook and cranny with no regard for the ability for schools and
other public services like streets to handle the increased capacity. I paid a lot of money to have the
quiet life where at least the subdivision streets weren’t over run with traffic like the rest of the town
is. This strategy of adding more and more people where there is not the infrastructure to support it is
making Meridian a difficult place to live. Please do not approve this high density housing to go in next to
Bridgetower West. The traffic that these units will bring will decrease the quality of life for those
already in place. Traffic will be all over the subdivision due to the Elementary school and people traveling
to different outlets. In addition, McMillan is already overwhelmed with only having single lanes and no
turning lane in certain places. Another consideration that the City planners need to make is do you want
to bring down the values of your higher end neighborhoods? If so, why?
I recommend that high density housing be limited in Meridian, and where approved, be placed away from
quiet subdivisions. Franklin and Ten Mile might make more sense where their streets have more capacity
and there aren’t existing quiet neighborhoods.
Thanks,
Andrea
