To whom it may concern…
I am writing to ask that the current plans to build apartments in the vacant lot to the west of the
Walmart on Ten Mile and McMillian be STOPPED. The traffic in the area is already totally unacceptable.
There is currently new housing developments in construction on both sides of McMillian at Black Cat.
How much more population density does the city of Meridian think this area can handle?
McMillian cannot be widened due to the irrigation channel and there are already traffic buildups and
delays of vehicles trying to gain access onto McMillian from San Vito. A traffic light and cross walk are
already badly needed at that intersection and it’s only a matter of time before there is a serious traffic
collision involving pedestrians (children crossing over McMillian walking to school) and or other vehicles
and people will be seriously injured. In addition, it makes no sense to have high density housing right
next to single family home neighborhoods. This will cause home values to go down.
The City of Meridian has a responsibility to the resident tax payers of Meridian to plan a safe and
efficient city. Please do not approve apartments to go in on this vacant lot and consider some form of
commercial venture where there won’t be traffic issues after business hours.
Many thanks,
Tom Akins
