I am writing to strongly oppose the building of apartments in Bridgetower off of McMillan Rd. The amount of traffic that this will bring to our neighborhood will have a negative impact on traffic, congestion, and noise. The proposed entrance to this apartment complex on San Vito is no way designed to handle 400+ extra cars coming in and out of the apartments and the adjacent neighborhood in Bridgetower. Then when you add school buses, delivery trucks, and heavy trucks coming and going for construction this is going to create a significant hazard at the intersection of San Vito and McMillan, plus massive congestion. McMillan is a two lane road, unlike Ten Mile, Chinden, and Ustick which are more capable of handling additional traffic. I've lived in multiple big city metro areas to include LA/Orange County, Tampa, Houston, Dallas, and Portland. I've seen the damage done to single family area housing by bringing in too much development, and over developing areas. I've seen it over and over and over, where a 10 minute commute transformed into a 45 minute commute because cities and towns brought in massive amounts of apartments and crammed them into single family residential areas. It doesn't improve the quality of life for anyone, and no one wants to sit in traffic unnecessarily. Plus, we've paid premium dollars on these houses, and we would like to preserve our investment as much as possible. Keep the apartment buildings and developments on the bigger, already widened roads like Chinden, Ten Mile, Ustick, and other similar roads and closer to I-84. Putting this large of a development on McMillan is just asking for more congestion, commute time, and traffic accidents when people are pulling out onto McMillan whether they are turning left or right. WIth the potential amount of traffic coming in and out of the current Bridgetower neighborhood and the proposed apartment complex, it's likely a traffic light would need to be eventually installed. If that is the case, then it would only be a few hundred yards west of the current traffic light at McMillan and Ten Mile. East/west traffic on McMillan is already slow and go and often gets backed up in both directions at Ten Mile. Adding another potential stoplight so close to this intersection, will only make traffic worse on that road as well. Mac Garrison Meridian, ID 281-650-7126
