Re: Proposed Agenda Item for June 6, 2006 City Council Meeting
The Public Works Department respectfully requests the following item be placed on the June
6 City Council agenda, under Consent Agenda, for Council's consideration:
Chanae Order NO.1 for the North SloUQh Trunk Line. Additional work is required for the
completion of the North Slough Trunk Line. This change order consists of the following work
and amounts to 0.80% of the construction contract:
. Removal and replacement of the fence in the Smith parcel in lieu of payment to
the homeowner for this work.
. Removal and replacement of the fence that was placed around the Saguaro
Canyon Subdivision.
. Temporary pavement on Locust Grove.
Sommer Construction, Inc. submitted a cost for this change order as summarized below:

Recommended Council Action: The Public Works Department recommends
that City Council approves Change Order No.1 for the North Slough Trunk Line
with Sommer Construction, Inc for $9,087.60 and authorize the Mayor to sign it.

You are directed to make the following changes in the Contract Documents.
Description: 1) Remove and reset Smith Parcel fencina. 2) Remove and reset SaQuarro
Subdivision fencina. 3) Provide and remove temporary pavina on Locust Grove
Purpose of Change Order: .. 1) The Smith Parcel owner requested that in lieu of payment the
proiect remove and reset parcel fence which resulted in additional cost to the Contractor. 2)
Durina the time between phase I and phase" of the project a fence was placed alona Saauarro
Subdivision reauirina that it be removed and reset at added cost to the Contractor 3) Due to
conflicts with other area construction proiects ACHD did not allow Sommer Construction to close
Locust Grove Road in a timely manner resultinq in project delay and poor weather conditions
that required temporary asphalt pavement which added cost to the Contractor.
