Jodi,
While I wasn’t at the meeting this last Tuesday, I am providing you some links with information/background on the
conversation concerning districts. I am proposing to change two seat numbers to align the results of our 2021 election
th
and fully implement districts by the 2023 election. Below is a link to the July 19 City Council meeting where I discussed
the proposed seat change. Hopefully this information sheds light on the issue.

I have also copied our City Attorney to respond to your question about tabling and our review of creating shorter terms,
and our City Clerk so your email and this response can be included in the record.
Respectfully,
Mayor Robert Simison

Councilman Simison,
After having looked into the matter and attended the city council meeting this past Tuesday, I was curious how the
committee tabled the issue. The recent work to calculate and re-align areas so the city citizens are represented properly
is such a huge value to the Meridian community. Why in the world are you even entertaining the idea to institute a
ordinance that foolishly does not consider all sides of the options? Boise had similar growth and a need for more equal
representation. Those who represented in conflicting areas would simply serve a shorter term, then run if they desired
to for the next normal term. Equitable in every way.
When growth in this community has increased exponentially, we have to commit to representing and listening to the
needs of this community's growth with eye to integrity. The people deserve integrity driven leaders. Be those leaders!
I appeal to you to honor the newly adopted community district map and FORGET trying to make position seats
tweaked. Finish out the term of serving this year. Let those who want to run again, do so.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Jodi Miller
