MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING

This Memorandum of Understanding ("MOU ") is entered into this2S day of ycly
2022 , by and between IAFF Local 4627 (" UNION") and the City of Meridian ("CITY") ,
WHEREAS , the UNION and the CITY are patties to a Collective Labor Agreement effective
February 23 , 2021 — September 30 , 2023 (" CLA ") covering various terms and conditions of Employment
of the Firefighter employees of the CITY ; and
WHEREAS , there will not exist enough qualified candidates to staff upcoming vacancies for
promotion to the position of Engineer per time- in-grade requirements of Article 15 for Engineer .
NOW THEREFORE , the CITY and UNION hereby agree as follows :
1 . The CITY and UNION agree to waive the time - mn grade requirement of ` at least the rank of
Firefighter Step 3 ' of Article 15 to a time-in -grade requirement of ` at least the rank of
Probationary Firefighter• ' for all Firefighter members who have completed the required Engineer
Development Program (EDP) .
The parties agree that this MOU shall ex pon the approval of a subsequent CLA between the parties
or September 3 2023 u 1 ss therwi e exten ed by mutual Agreement.
