Being an adjacent neighbor to the 870 s. Locust Grove Rd. property up for rezoning to R-8 zoning, we are
against this rezone and feel this change will degrade the quality-of-life we currently enjoy along with
surrounding residents of this neighborhood. Rezoning this acre will add more traffic to this already congested
area on Locust Grove and is an irresponsible decision for that alone. The potential of adding 8 residents to this
one acre is unreasonable in this location. This acre shares precious water rights shared by surrounding single
acre homes. This will disrupt irrigation systems for all of us who share this line. It will cost each of us time,
money, and other resources to maintain the water rights and adjust the systems we each use and need to
accommodate this change. We feel this rezone designation compromises adjacent property residents who
desire the privacy and peaceful rural lifestyle this neighborhood was designed to be. Some homes have
turned over in the real-estate market within this neighborhood over the past three years since the Future
Land-Use Map was changed. Continued desire to acquire and maintain single acre parcels such as those
found in Locus View Heights is a rare commodity in the Meridian Area and should be preserved. There are
contributing citizens in this neighborhood who add to the needs of our local community. Because these
residents can locate among and utilize a larger property, the best interest of their profession contributes
greatly the City of Meridian economy and community as a whole.
Again, may we remind you that this neighborhood predominantly did not want the Future Land Use
Designation change to occur in 2019. But regardless of the guidance that was given to the City by the
Neighborhood and Steering Committee at that time, City of Meridian Planners pulled their trump card and
allowed the designation change to occur despite dozens of opposing voices. Our family enjoys this
neighborhood. We would continue to live here for years to come. But, we wish to protect the lifestyle this
property-type affords us as a family.
This rural Ada County neighborhood has been here for over 50 years. Many original homeowners continue to
enjoy this area. Our family is a multi-generational family that has purposely chosen to live in this
neighborhood because of the quality of life caring for an acre provides as we raise our family. We do not want
multiple residents crowding into our back yard, infringing on privacy and resources. We cannot replace this
property anywhere in the Treasure Valley. We value it and wish to protect the integrity of surrounding
properties as well.
The current growth plan the City of Meridian is has adopted is haphazard and irresponsible. Current and
recent development guidance is allowing developers to buy up some of Idaho's premium farm and rural
county properties, jamming housing units wherever they can reasonably, or not reasonably fit. Establishing
residential housing among industrial, commercial, and retail locations is poor planning and will lead to greater
crime and upheaval in our community. The City has the moral responsibility to protect and value current
family residential living.

We do not favor this annexation request and wish the Planning and Zoning Commission would value and listen
to the needs and desires of established residents surrounding this area.
