INSPECTION FOR THE SALE AND STORAGE OF SAFE AND SANE FIREWORKS

Requirements for Temporary Fireworks Sales Stand:
^ 1. Must be at least 25 feet away from any other building or structure.
^ 2. Stand must be at least 100 feet away from fuel storage/dispensing station.
^ 3. Stand must meet the 1997 UBC requirements for a temporary stand.
^ 4. The stand's floor area must be less than 750 square feet.
^ 5. Doors must be located at both ends of structure, thirty inches (30") wide and must
open outward. If the rear wall is more than twenty-five feet (25') long an
additional exit door to the rear will be required.
^ 6. Each stand/tent shall be provided with a minimum of one (1) type 2A10BC rated
fire extinguisher, and one (1) water type fire extinguisher in good working order
and with a current inspection tag in place dated within the last calendar year.
Extinguishers must be hung three to five feet (3'-5') above the floor. Extinguishers
must be readily visible and accessible at all times.
^ 7. Nv smoking is permitted in the stand or within 25 feet of the stand. "NO
SMOKING signs must be posted inside and outside of the stand on all sides of
the stand.
^ 8. There shall be at least one supervisortwenty-one (21) years of age or older, on
duty at all times. No person under eighteen (18) years of age shall work at or
about or inside any stand/tent where "nonaerial common fireworks" are sold or
offered for sale, unless an adult supervisor is present.
^ 9. The stand must be attended at all times. No fireworks shall be effectively
marketed in aself-service fashion.
^ 10. There must be a metal trash receptacle with a tight frtting lid in place.
^ 11. Trash and refuse must not be allowed to accumulate.
^ 12. All such stands/tents shall meet the requirements of the Building Code of the City
and all lighting circuits and other electrical equipment shall meet the requirements
of the Electrical Ordinance of the City. No open flame-heating device may be
used in a temporary fireworks stand/tent at any time.
^ 13. There must be an approved storage area for under-stock. There shall be no
short-term storage within 25' of fireworks stand/tent.
^ 14. No fireworks shall be discharged in or within twenty-five feet (25') of any fireworks
stand.
