HomeMy WebLinkAbout5/2 Letter from Betty Rossow 1 May 2006 RECEIVED MAY n 2 lO~E; CITY OF MERIDIAN CITY CLERK OFFIr:F Meridian City Council Meridian City Hall 33 East Idaho Avenue Meridian, Idaho 83642 RE: Reconsideration of Denial of a Variance to the city code to allow access onto Eagle Road for Bienville Square Subdivision by Red Cliff Development, LLC Mayor de Weerd and Council members: We who live in the Carol Subdivision do appreciate the time spent on the Bienville pröjectHowever, ifYoli do approve the Variance tomorrow evening at a closed meeting, I would hope that you could give us more time for another public hearing. If this cut is approved then I would suggest that maybe Red Cliff can come up with some funds to help close off the Leslie Dr. and Eagle access. As you well know if the cut is approved, when the medians are constructed on Eagle then more than likely the full access will become a right in/out only. Guess which street will become the conduit for that traffic to access Ustick Road? At the last meeting when Mr. Unger was saying that a study was done and the results showed that there would be very little use by those traveling to Ustick which was disputed by a Carol Sub. Resident, I saw some heads shaking, 'no way' wilJ there be more traffic use on Leslie Way and Drive. Well, because I live on Leslie Dr., and have a large yard I am out in it hours nearly everyday I see all of the traffic cutting through here now. All of that money spent to improve the UstickÆagle intersection and those living west of Leslie Way on and near Ustick do not care to use that intersection. Guess where they prefer to drive and at speeds well over 25 MPH? Please consider the Carol residents in this matter. We have a very nice neighborhood and would love to see it stay that way and not sullied by more traffic which will definitely happen if that cut goes through. Right now at certain times of the day it can be out right dangerous to try to pull out of our driveways and it is frightening to see the younger children riding their little vehicles and falling into the street. Some of these people are - driving as such speeds they probably could not stop in time to avoid hitting a child, motor vehicle or animal for that matter. Thank you for listening and considering the wishes ofthe Carol Subdivision residents. Sincerely, /'-) /~) ,..-,.,:~') i ,/ :2;/.uittJ~ Jå¿-riéz¡; L/ Betty Rossow 2832 Leslie Dr. Meridian, Idaho 83646
