HomeMy WebLinkAboutLetter from Johnson's April 8; 2005 RECEIVED APR 1 2 2006 Denny and Jeanette Johnson 1335 W. Overland Rd. Meridìan; Idaho 83642 City of Meridian City Clerk Office Tammy de Weerd Mayor, City of Meridian 33 East Idaho Avenue Meridian, ID 83642 Dear Mayorße Weerd: We are writing in regards to the proposed Bear Creek West Subdivision. We recently attended the City Council Meeting on April 4th and we are foHhwing up on the discussion regarding minimum lot size_, transitioning on the north and south boundaries of the property. We own ten acres adjacent to the north boundary of the proposed Bear Creek West Subdivision property. Our house is located very close to the southeastern border of our property, and with no canal or walkway to provide physical separation between our home and the property to be developed you can understand our concern about proposals to build multiple large homes directly south of our property. In the meeting, many residents in the area expressed their desire for appropriate transition between existing homes with acrea,ge and those proposed homes. During the meeting there was agreement as to the importance of considering a minimum lot size for property along the south border of the proposed subdivision. We believe it is important that the same principles apply to the homes that will go in along the north border. We also understand that the developer has agreed to build only one-story homes along the property boundary of our neighbors immediately west (Christian Family Matters Church), and we feel strongly that the same limitations should apply along our property line as well. In addition, we request that the burm between our property and any new homes be three feet in height with a six-foot fence and that it be landscaped. -n ------------ u---- --.-" - ----- We deeply appreciate the role that the City Council is continuing to playas our community changes and Wows. It is important to us that, as Meridian transitions from a small rural community to a larger city, the Council take into account the needs and concerns ofthose, like ourselves, who have lived here for many years. We feel we've been listened to and that our concerns have been taken seriously, and we are thankful for City Council members who don't take that responsibility lightly. We look forward to continuing to work with the City and the developers as tills project moves forward, and we appreciate your consideration of our situation and our requests. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or to discuss this matter further. We can be reached at home at 888-6607 or at work (Denny) at 888-3232. Sincerely; ~- - ì ~L-' -,' _./ Ç-- ~J~ Johnwn f " ..-- -
