City of Meridian Districting Committee Invitation.
crawrq+.r�o.�.r Residents are invited to learn about Meridian's
��`���``` -' �• districting process and provide feedback to the
Meridian Districting Committee on Friday,May 20th,
10:00a.m.and Thursday,June 9th 6:00p.m.,at
- Meridian City Hall,City Council Chambers.
At these public hearings,the Meridian Districting
Committee will explain the process used to create
the proposed map,the factors that impacted their
' recommendation,and hear from the public
- regarding the proposed districts.The newly drawn
districts will impact local elections beginning with
i - R the 2023 city elections.
The city's six City Council districts are being created
to reflect the 2020 U.S.Census figures.Election
districts are redrawn every 10 years after the Census
Bureau conducts its population count According to
the Census Bureau,Meridian's overall population
has increased to 117,635,requiring the City to
_ develop Council districts.The Meridian Districting
- -- Committee's goal is to ensure that each of the City
Council's six districts has as close to the same
-- number of people as possible and meets the
n requirements of Meridian City Code.Given the city's
p new population count,the ideal average population
