Hello,
I am a current resident of the Oaks North community. I am writing in regards to the upcoming City of Meridian Public
Hearing on April 7, 2022 where there is discussion and approval request to rezone/repurpose 12.02 acres of land from R-
4 to R-8 zoning for the purpose of recouping 5 lots in order to add more housing to the Oaks North community.
Myself and other current residents are opposed to this request. We request that the builder use that land to build
another park and pool to accommodate the size of the community. Currently, the builder has plans for a total of 1,200+
homes to make up the final community and only 2 pools, 2 small parks, etc to accommodate all of that. 1,200+ homes
using those limited facilities will easily surpass the capacity limits that city code mandates and it is the builder's
responsibility to scale the facility in accordance with the scale of the community that they are building.
We've already taken this through the HOA (still run by the builder) and the builder's representative and their only
response to the residents who pay HOA fees to maintain those facilities is that "it was our responsibility to speak up at
City Public Hearing meetings". I hope this email is the correct course of action for voicing the concern and putting
concerns up for consideration in the decision that will be made on April 7, 2022.
If there is another avenue that we (residents) should be taking to voice these concerns before rezoning the purpose of
land in our community is approved and finalized, please let me know who the correct person/department is to talk to.
