Planning and Zoning Commission,
I am opposed to rezoning the 32.21 acres in Apex East Subdivision from R-4 to R-8. For years, this area of town has
offered peaceful, rural living. There are numerous subdivisions in various stages going up within a mile radius of the
intersection of Locust Grove and Lake Hazel which include a wide variety of dwelling densities and will result in
thousands of homes over the next few years. In my opinion, higher densities should be prioritized in city centers, not in
the outskirts of town, where jobs and public transportation are lacking. I would like to see the parameters for R-4 zoning
followed, including the 8000 sq ft. minimum property size and the minimum street frontage and setbacks. What I don't
want to see are houses mere feet away from the residential roads with alley loaded garages. Again, we are on the
outskirts of Meridian, not in the city center where this type of home is better suited. Not everything the developers ask
for needs to be approved and I feel like more often than not, that's how it turns out. Please listen to the public, and the
residents who have enjoyed living in this part of Meridian for years.
