My family lives in the City of Meridian. We own a home, and my wife and I both work in the city of Meridian
and contribute to the success of the community. We have one child that attends Owyhee High School and a
second that will start attending there next year. Currently our child drives several miles from the school
during the day to attend religious education at the Nampa LDS Institute building. That puts him and others at
unnecessary risk for him to attend his release time religious education. It also puts more traffic on Meridian
and Nampa roads, which adds to the need for law enforcement and community resources for this student
travel that could be eliminated. Other students take a bus to the current seminary, which again puts more
traffic on the road and students at risk while in transit. We have heard that the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints has secured an agreement with the developers of the Aviator Springs Subdivision, # H-2021-
0065 for a seminary building within walking distance of Owyhee High School. This proposal will make it safer
for the youth attending Owyhee to attend released time religious education. It will also make it easier for the
students to make use of the period and not have the wasted time of a drive. For safety and efficiency reasons,
we request that the city approve this subdivision and the seminary building that will be associated with this
new development. The seminary building is always a safe and well landscaped building that is a great place
for the students to gather and collaborate in good citizenship and learn about moral behavior.
