HomeMy WebLinkAboutNarrativeJuly 1, 2020 Chingeneye Mukadisi 2140 N Bing Ave Meridian, ID 83646 Proposal for Accessory Use Childcare — Narrative Description I am interested in establishing a family childcare within my home located at 2140 N Bing Ave, where I will serve no more than six children at any time, including my own two daughters. As a requirement of the city of Meridian, and because I do not wish inconvenience for the city or my neighbors, I held a meeting on 6/30/20 with close neighbors (owners within 100'), who I invited by mailed invitations which were postmarked on 6/18/20. The address list was provided by Kimberley Tabarini on 6/17 and because the properties are selling quickly I checked the Challenger Development parcels on Ada County Tax Assessor's site and mailed additional invitation letters to the new owners shown (those records included with this packet). Although I will determine my own program services, hours, parent fees, etc, I plan to operate mainly weekdays, between 7 am and 7 pm (always within Meridian code). My spouse Godfrey and I will likely provide transportation for some or all children, reducing the likelihood of parents parking cars. If a parent does need to come, they will be instructed to escort children safely to and from car to the home, to park in driveway or directly in front of our lot, and to be quiet and considerate of neighbors (I will probably only be caring for children of one family). While children are in my care, I will be responsible for their supervision at all times, including indoor activities, outdoor play, and on walks or vehicle trips away from my home. I anticipate outdoor play time to be limited to one hour after 9 am and one hour after 1 pm, and noise will be kept below the maximum stipulated by Meridian officials. Godfrey will be an employee of my childcare, and will have all required training and certification. My proposed childcare will be subject to regular inspections through the Central District Health Department (CDH). I have participated and will continue to participate in regular IdahoSTARS-approved trainings regarding health, safety/emergency planning, childcare best practices, and child development. I am CPR and pediatric first aid certified, and will renew this certification continuously. I am also currently participating in Jannus Economic Opportunity's Refugee Childcare Business Development project, with project manager Jenny Hay (208-947-4262) providing me ongoing technical assistance and support with running a quality childcare. You can contact Jenny for more information about the project and its relevance to my proposed childcare. The next steps towards opening a childcare in my home will be approval from Meridian Planning Department, then scheduling an inspection with CDH. In the case that Meridian and CDH approve me for a family childcare, I intend to seek clients immediately thereafter via personal networking. Thank you for your review of my childcare proposal. I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely yours, Chingeneye Mukadisi
