HomeMy WebLinkAboutLetter from Chris Broer Submission for Public Hearing on the proposed Ambercreek subdivision Meridian City Council meeting, February 14,2006 The proposed R-8 Ambercreek subdivision, with its proposed 4.95 dwelling unit per acre, is on land which calls for "Low Density Residential" according to the Comprehensive Plan as of the beginning of this month. "Low Density Residential" has a defined use which includes "single- family homes at densities of three dwelling units or less per acre". Even if the land were to be fe-designated as "Medium Density", three dwelling units per acre would also meet that criteria (three to eight dwelling units per acre). Because nearby parcels have been allowed higher density, it is that much more important that the Low Density Residential intent of the Comprehensive Plan for this parcel be honored. As a long-time resident living south of the proposed subdivision along Meridian Road, my neighbors and I are concerned about the 586 vehicle trips per day this proposed project will add to Meridian Road. It is already hard enough to pull out onto Meridian Road. Having three dwelling units per acre would save more than 230 vehicle trips per day on Meridian Road from this parcel (1.95/4.95*586). The Comprehensive Plan as it was approved called for this to be the only parcel off Meridian Road between Cherry Lane and McMillan Road designated as Low Density Residential, so it's important it be retained as such. The parcel hasn't been annexed by the city yet, so there's still a lot ofleverage to have the developer follow the Comprehensive Plan and have three dwellings or less per acre, which is called for by either "Low Density Residential" or even "Medium Density" .
