RE: First Amendment to the Urban Renewal Plan for the
Union District Urban Renewal Project
Dear Sir or Madam:
Enclosed is a copy of a formal notice that will be published in the Idaho Press on
October 15 and 29, 2021, advising that the Meridian City Council will hold a public hearing at
the Meridian City Hall, 33 E. Broadway Avenue, Meridian, Idaho, on Tuesday, November 23,
2021, at 6:00 p.m., to consider adoption of the First Amendment to the Urban Renewal Plan
for the Union District Urban Renewal Project (the “First Amendment”) of the Urban Renewal
Agency of Meridian, Idaho, also known as Meridian Development Corporation (“MDC”),
concerning the addition of approximately 1.46 acres (including rights-of-way) of land contiguous
to the northwestern boundary of the existing Union District revenue allocation area (the “Union
District Project Area”). At that time the City Council will consider the second reading of an
Ordinance adopting the First Amendment.
In compliance with Idaho Code § 50-2906, this letter serves as notice to you that the
First Amendment contains a revenue allocation provision and amends an existing plan that
contains a revenue allocation provision and MDC recommends approval of the First
Amendment.
As noted above, the primary purpose of this First Amendment is to add approximately
1.46 acres (including rights-of-way) of land to the existing Union District Project Area, which
additional area is contiguous to the northwestern boundary of the Union District Project Area
and is generally bounded by E. Idaho Avenue on the north, NE 2nd Street on the east, a portion
of Broadway Avenue on the south, and E. Main Street on the west. A map identifying the
boundary of the area to be added is included.
A copy of the First Amendment and MDC Resolution No. 21-038 adopted by the MDC
Board on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, are also enclosed along with the map and legal
description (if you are receiving this letter via email, copies of all of the referenced documents,
including the existing Union District Plan can be located at https://bit.ly/UnionFirstAmendment A

your review. You are encouraged to provide your comments, either in writing or at the public
hearing.
In the event you would like to schedule a separate meeting to discuss the First
Amendment, representatives of the City will make themselves available to explain the First
Amendment.
Sincerely,
