City Clerk Office,
I am writing this email in the hopes that you pass it on to the scheduled P & Z meeting tonight in regards to this
subdivision expansion.
There is a proposed development plan for this area next to the YMCA that will include some high density housing,
townhomes, apartments, houses, and daycare. This proposition is insane for the area that it's proposed.
(1) It's 3x as dense as the surrounding subdivisions
(2) Amity Rd at peak travel times is already above max capacity; it gets completely gridlocked
(3) Rockhampton 1 is an adjoining subdivision to the proposed area. I live in it. It's regularly used as a shortcut/racetrack
to get from Amity Rd to Cloverdale Rd, or vice versa. This would increase that danger 3-4x due to how many people will
be crammed into such a small area. Our HOA would have to charge our households more money to put in speedbumps,
barricades, whatever is necessary to make it safer.
(4) We have a wonderful park in Rockhampton 1. It's for homeowner use only (because we pay for the maintenance and
utilities). That will quickly be overrun by outsiders.
(5) Historically, where apartments are placed, crime is soon to follow. Take the apartments on Maple Grove Rd & Lake
Hazel Rd as an example. They increased death, assault, drug activity, and lowered quality of living for surrounding areas.
Now, right next to subdivisions that are loaded with children, the developers are planning to place a crime dense living
area right next to it. All for a quick buck in this market.
(6) This will continue to strain the utilities for the area. Sewer lift systems, city water, electricity, natural gas,
ditch/irrigation water.
The area is designed for low impact housing. It NEEDS to stay that way, or the quality of life will drop rapidly. Please
deny the proposed blueprint, and plan for low density housing to match the surrounding households.
Regards,
Mr. Wilson
