Dear Chris Johnson, I am writing this letter in opposition to the proposed plan for development of the Centerville Subdivision. The development is far too dense for the area. I understand that this land will be developed but feel the number of homes should be reduced. While I may not live in the Meridian city limits, this subdivision will impact my neighborhood. As a neighbor to this plot, I am concerned that if this development occurs as planned the fire and police response times will be reduced. There are already concerns about the response times from both departments. We need to listen to our first responders and respect their professional judgement of how they respond and treat the emergencies. Also, the schools in the impact areas are already at capacity and having apartments and dense housing will bring additional children to fill the schools even more. There are no three-story apartments in the surrounding area. All of the subdivisions surrounding this plot are single family homes with some mixture of town houses. The appearance of three-story apartments will change the look and feel of the surrounding neighborhoods. The Centerville Subdivision should keep its development in line with the surrounding areas. This will also help reduce the number of vehicles. The roads around the area are already bumper to bumper and by adding an additional 266 additional vehicle trips per hour during peak times is going to increase commuting time, make the roads even less bike and pedestrian friendly than they are currently. There are minimal jobs and retail in this portion of Meridian also no transit system so people will be forced to commute. I appreciate you taking the time to read my issues with the current plan for the development and hope that you will deny the plans as submitted.
