Please consider this a request for a waiver from city ordinance, Chapter 4, Section R-4-3,
requiring a manhole or cleanout every 400' for a piped irrigation ditch. In this case, the ditch is
the Creason Lateral and the pipe size is 36". The longest span we have is 469.2", and all other
spans are less than 400'.
The spacing we used is approved by Ten State Standards for sewer systems. Even the Meridian
Public Works Department has approved spacings of over 500' for 30" sewer pipe. Furthermore.
we request that council amend the city ordinance to allow spacing according to Ten State
Standards or as approved by the applicable irrigation district or ditch company responsible for
maintenance.
