To our Mayor, City Council, and Planning & Zoning Commissioners, > We live in Century Farms and this area has many expanding and new subdivisions in progress. There is already too much traffic, crowded schools, and too few services nearby. We know you are doing your best to manage a rapidly growing city, and we appreciate all that you are trying to do. > > When buying a home, we considered Meridian’s current zoning for the land where the apartments and high density housing are proposed. It includes commercial shops, coffee, and services that would help make this new area become a convenient neighborhood. If that plan is changed to high density housing, then the current high traffic will get worse while we all drive to other areas to get basic services that we could walk or bike to. Please consider sticking with the current zoning to help provide nearby services to all of the people that are moving to our rapidly expanding edge of town, rather than squeezing more people into this space. If we are to reduce carbon emission, we need to reduce auto trips, and that can best be done with neighborhoods that include services nearby. Thank you. > Burke and Shirley Williams > 5667 S.
