I am writing in support of the building of additional multi-family housing in Meridian. In particular, I am supportive of the Centerville Subdivision being proposed off of Amity Road. I am a resident of Rockhampton 2 and fully support this proposed development for the reasons listed below: 1) I am an employer and both our existing staff and applicants we have sought to hire have stated that housing costs are a concern for them to continue to be able to live and work in Boise. We need more affordable housing and multi-family housing is a great option. 2) I work with veterans and domestic violence victims. Veterans who have VASH vouchers have been unable to find housing that will accept their vouchers; disabled seniors with Section 8 vouchers have faced the same dire situation, leaving them homeless. Similarly, domestic violence victims seeking to leave dangerous living situations have found themselves unable to leave because of the lack of affordable housing options, sometimes leaving themselves and their children in harms way because the only alternative is homelessness. 3) I understand the concerns about the impact on school capacity and traffic. However, as it is, families are having to double up in single family homes just to afford rent. These families are going to find ways to live in our communities, and multi-family housing is a better option than having folks have to double up or live in RV's on other people's properties. My suggestion is that the legislature needs to fully fund schools so West Ada can add substantial additional capacity for students. In the alternative, developers of all types of property (including single family homes) should be required to pay impact taxes or fees to help cover the costs of adding school capacity. The Treasure Valley needs more housing and I say yes, in my backyard because we live in a beautiful area and it is a great place to raise a family; let's make it an option for families of all incomes and backgrounds. But let's also make sure our schools are properly funded to be able to serve every new student. Thank you, Sunrise Ayers 5590 S Anaura Place 1
