To Whom It May Concern, I am advocating in support of Oasis Nightclub. I firmly believe that this venue could greatly benefit the community, not only by bringing more business and more jobs, but by bringing people together to celebrate life, music, and good company in a positive manner. Venues that are associated with EDM or Electronic Dance Music are important to so many people who have been positively affected by this music and the culture as a whole. EDM culture is one that is judgement-free and supports inclusion for all people, no matter their religion or their background. In a world filled with so much hate, it is a culture that encourages everyone to be their very best selves. As a business owner, a performance artist, and a music lover that has been regularly involved in this music scene for well over a decade, it is incredibly insulting to see an entire genre of music unjustly deemed a negative influence, especially when many of my peers that enjoy this very same music are some of the most outstanding, giving, and respectful members of our community. EDM culture cultivates an environment in which people can escape their everyday struggles through healthy connection, dance, and the love of music. It is a sense of family for those who have none, and a home away from home. I can confidently say without a doubt that this music scene has positively and significantly impacted my life and the lives of many, many others in the best way possible. As with any music scene, there will always be a few who ruin a good thing for the majority by making poor decisions, but the EDM community as a whole is one that actively promotes responsibility and persistently advocates for the safety of everyone involved. Many people, myself included, regularly attend events while completely sober, and it is absolutely absurd to insinuate that someone cannot enjoy the beauty of lights, lasers, or music without partaking in illegal activities. The people attending these events truly are some of the most kind individuals who just want to have a harmless, good time. Allowing Oasis Nightclub to persevere is giving a chance for progress in our community, and a chance for a new business owner to thrive. Please reconsider your decision with the knowledge that doing so will greatly benefit so many people who believe in the positive impact that this venue holds. Your consideration is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time, Dani Lansdown 1
