Hello, my name is Christopher Chavez and my address is 6712 w clinton ln boise idaho 83704. I have been a part of the EDM community for over 15 years. In my time with this amazing group of people I have learned so many great things. One of the main things I have gotten out of the teachings of this community, is love and compassion. The EDM community is one of the most loving and caring of any other I have had the chance to mingle with. Does this genre of music differ from any other music in the history of time? "It's too edgy" "it brings drug culture" "more crime will happen if we let it in!" If you look through history. Every music genre has been scrutinized and the public has been told to steer clear!! Jazz was too progressive, rock and roll was too controversial, hip hop and rap where said to cause more crime. None of these are facts and all are speculation. 10 years ago if you where to tell me that EDM music would be used in car commercials and the super bowl commercials I would say you are crazy, but here we are, with big names like Ford Chevy and Subaru using big named artists like tiesto and dioro for their background music. It is clear that the agenda of this legislation is not to look at the evidence and look outside of their own narrow minded view of how the world works. But to stifle the very essence of human growth and understanding that this community thrives on. I have seen and been to many events that are not of the edm genre and plenty of violence and crime happens all the same. To say that this is only secular to our specific music genre is overreaching and outright unreasonable. From what I heard during his deposition, this man has gone to every possible length to answer all the questions brought to his table and also in very descriptive format. He has poured his everything into this project and to deny this man a chance to prove himself for you all and also the whole community of meridian does your city a great disservice. I think a lot of times people in office or people who have lived privileged lives don't have boots on the ground experience and could never understand what it feels like to live your whole life poor and unwanted. Only to stumble into a world that fully accepts and nurtures you so that you have room to grow as a person and start to live a better more fulfilling life. I know so so many people who have experienced the love, understanding, togetherness, and finding family that they have never had the chance to enjoy. This comes from our EDM community. This comes from these "drug addict human trafficking heroin users" (we're not those things) In conclusion I think that you as a council should consider giving this man the chance he deserves to prove himself because everyone deserves a shot to make their dreams happen. If someone was to say to you all, that you where not able to complete your dreams because there is crime, human trafficking, and heroin use in the career of your choice would that of heald you back from getting into congress? If that where the case then none of you would be working in this field. There is crime all over the world. All this man wants to do is fulfill his dream and creat a safe space for people to come together and enjoy the riches that this community can provide for you. 1 Thank you. 2
