Hi there,
My attendance tonight at City Hall is dependent largely on work, so since I may or may not be able to make it, I'd like to
file a complaint over email, and watch the proceedings over video tonight.
Given that Eagle and Ustick is already terrible to deal with, with the traffic and increasingly more incompetent drivers,
adding a nightclub would only make things worse. Increased drunk driving, increased aggressive driving, and overall
more congestion in the area are just some issues that come to mind.
Yes, there are restaurant/bars in the area, but typically drinking culture doesn't completely consume those
environments. Meanwhile, a nightclub encourages drinking, dancing, and going home with strangers, and given the
Oasis' proximity to residential neighborhoods it's a beyond terrible location. I'm not opposed to the nightclub on its own,
even if I don't personally enjoy going to those sorts of places, but somewhere maybe along the connector would be a
much better option for location.
Additionally, it's my understanding that the locale initially couldn't get approved on account of requesting a permit with
more parking spaces than they could have, so they just reduced that number. How exactly is that going to get enforced?
To me it seems like the owner just went with a lower number to get his approval, but there's no guarantee he will
respect that. From there, you can guarantee overflow parking that's going to affect the other local businesses, and
residential areas. Nothing is stopping clientele from parking in the neighborhoods, after all, they could just claim to live
there. Now picture someone out-of-their-mind drunk navigating back to their car, and attempting to drive out of there
drunk. They could hurt residents in the neighborhood, or damage property.
Overall, I think the location of the nightclub is abysmal, and to approve it is to doom Eagle and Ustick and immediately
hurt long-time residents of the nearby neighborhoods.
I hope these concerns get taken into consideration,
Stephanie
