Thank you, Sonya Watters City Of Meridian City Clerk Office I am forwarding your concerns to the -----Original Message ----- From: Val Greenspan [mailto:vgreenspan@cableone.net] Sent: Monday, July 14, 2008 10:34 PM To: Sonya Watters Cc: Bernadette Subject: Maverik store To whom it may concern: This message concerns a proposed convenience store and fuel retailer (Maverik) at the corner of Locust Grove and McMillan. I am unable to attend the hearing. Please convey to appropriate individuals my concern that this type of convenience store seems contrary to the character of the neighborhood that I envisioned when we purchased a home in the Vienna Woods sub -division. It is contrary to what I envisioned for the following reasons: 1) increase in 24 hour vehicular traffic; 2) robbery potential in this type of store; 3) potential for out -of -control behaviors due to ease of liquor purchases; and 4) entre' to other stores that tend to decrease rather than increase property values in the area. I would rather see specialty stores and businesses with unique store front architecture (e.g., Heritage Commons) that will draw mid -to upper -scale patronage during normal business hours. There are already 3 gas stations within 1 to 3 miles, so another is not needed. Val. C.
