I wanted to take a moment to express my opposition to the proposed Oasis night club at the corner of Ustick/Eage. I am
currently a resident close to the proposed site and am very concerned with the impact this will have on existing traffic and
the surrounding neighborhoods. As this proposal has been brought to my attention and I have had an opportunity to
research it seems like the parking is not sufficient for an establishment of this scope. It seems like this was approved and
put into place with future hope/promises and little solid commitment on how parking with be handled. I am not opposed to
the night club in general but more so the location that was approved.
As I have watched and listened to the proposed owner of this establishment it seems like he is continually changing the
scope of this establishment to try and meet the building codes with little hope of actually enforcing these changes. I think
it is reckless to approve such an establishment that is really only around 325 ft from the nearest residential house. There
are many other cities across the US that have codes that would prevent this type of business going in this close to
housing but apparently Meridian does not have this type of restriction yet. This type of business would cause many
issues for the nearby residential areas they are driving thru (drunken driving, noise, litter, etc.) that will cause many future
problems.
As we prepare to review this proposal again on July 20th I believe it is incumbent as our trusted elected officials that this
proposal is rejected for the above reasons plus many more that other residence have expressed. I implore you to do the
right thing here since Meridian does not have the needed codes (as other cities do) to reject this proposal and wish Oasis
the best has they find another more appropriate location for this business. Thanks for your consideration!
