Mayor and Meridian City Council Members, First of all, I want to thank you for supporting our community! Meridian is definitely a "premier community in which to live, work, and raise a family." I would like to express my objections to "The Oasis" Nightclub on the corner of Ustick and Eagle (3185 E. Ustick Road). I am concerned that this establishment is not furthering our city's goal of creating a "safe community built around families." I believe that a nightclub does not belong here in Meridian for the following reasons: 1. The proposed location is right next door to homes and neighborhoods and is definitely not for families nor family friendly. 2. This business is within walking distance of three elementary schools (River Valley, Ustick, and Discovery Elementary) and is neither appropriate nor safe for children. 3. The Eagle/Ustick intersection is very busy and adding more traffic, especially intoxicated drivers, would be unwise. 2 4. The establishment has proposed that patrons can take shortcuts through the neighborhood which would increase neighborhood traffic. 5. There is inadequate parking for the number of patrons the establishment is planning on. Meridian is a place where people work together to be that "premier community"! Please consider denying "The Oasis" application for a Conditional Use Permit. Thank you! Eric Buehler
