Dear Meridian City Council Members,
My name is Amanda Billingsley and I am a resident of the Century Farm neighborhood. I'm writing to you in
regards to the plans for the Centerville Subdivision at the corner of E. Amity Road and S. Hillsdale Ave. I am
not able to attend the meeting on August 5th so I’m writing to express my concerns for building high density
housing in this area.
I am concerned about school overcrowding, incongruence with the Meridian City Future Land Use Map, and
increased traffic. All of these areas would be negatively impacted by this development. Hillsdale Elementary
is already close to capacity and building a high density development would certainly cause the school to be
overcrowded. The Meridian City Future Land Use Map has this area zoned as “low density” in keeping with the
city’s goal to “ensure that Meridian is a premier place to live, work, and raise a family.” This proposed high
density development is roughly 3 times the planned amount of residents on that parcel. Traffic is also a
concern as Amity Road is a 2 lane road that is already congested. Also, the traffic study was done during the
COVID lockdown so the results are inaccurate.
Challenger Development has an opportunity here to develop something our community can truly be proud of. I
hope that the plan ultimately accepted by the City will address these concerns to better create an evolving,
livable, vibrant, and connected neighborhood in line with #MyMeridianVision.
Sincerely,
Amanda Billingsley
